Drappier

Champagne One stocks the widest range of Drappier Champange in the UK

Founded in 1808, Drappier produces both vintage and non-vintage cuvée as well as a prestige wine known as Grande Sendrée.

Urville lies where the vineyard was first planted by Georges Collot, the grandfather of the present head of the House, who decided at the beginning of 1930 to plant Pinot Noir in this region. His decision caused some amusement and he was named “Father Pinot”. Today Monsieur Collot’s grandsons run the family business; Michel Drappier controls the winemaking processing and Andre keeps a watchful eye over the vineyards cultivated according to organic and natural principles.

They are considered one of the finest boutique champagne producers in the world and their cellars where they store the wine, are among the oldest and most extensive in Europe and also were the only cellars that weren't damaged during the two world wars or the fires that raced through the area in the 1950s. Drappier also cultivate forgotten and nevertheless unforgettable grape varieties: Arbane, Petit Meslier and Blanc and are also known for using low quantities of dosage and extremely limited use of sulphites highlighting the multifaceted aspects of their terroirs and wine-making.
