The Glenkinchie distillery was created by brothers John and George Rate in 1825. It was named after the glen of the Kinchie Burn in which it is situated. The distillery is only one of a few of distilleries that remain in the Scottish lowland.

Glenkinchie makes Scotland's largest stills, which have two copper pots supplying an annual production of 1.3 million litres.
