Domaine Chanson Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches 2011/2012 

Details of production:

Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard, the soils here are marl with sandy yellow limestone. A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir here. After a very cold winter and a demanding spring, the hot summer in 2011 was regularly interrupted by rainy intervals. It gave way early September to a bright and warm weather that speeded up the maturation of the grapes. Harvest began in the last days of September under a bright sunshine. Long and careful macerations have allowed to enhance the fleshy texture and smooth and elegant tannins of the Pinot Noir.

Tasting notes:

Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of red berries mixed with an array of spices. Complex with a vibrant energy. Well-balanced. Beautiful texture. Harmonious oak note and fine-grained tannins. Long and elegant aftertaste.

How to serve:

Can be enjoyed with red meat, grilled or “en sauce” and our local cheeses like Époisses, Citeaux and Langres.
