Description
Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir 2019 (6 x 75cl)
Producer Information:
Domaine Anderson is nestled in the breathtaking, fog-cooled hillside and mountain terrain of Northern California’s Anderson Valley. Purchased by Champagne Louis Roederer in 2011, the Dach family vineyard prides itself on its limited production and classical wine making style. The cooling marine climate characteristic of this region provides ideal conditions for the cultivation of Pinot Noir grapes. All the wines wines are crafted with precision and care to express the uniqueness of the Anderson Valley terroir. The Pinot Noir is made from grapes sourced exclusively from wholly-owned Anderson Valley vineyards, giving the team complete control over farming practices and stewardship of the land.
Vineyards:
The 50 acres of Domaine Anderson vineyard wines span the Anderson Valley, from the warmer, up-Valley town of Boonville to the cooler regions closer to the Mendocino coast. They reside on the valley floor, on gently sloped knolls, and on steep hillsides, and offer soils ranging from rocky, river gravels to the finest clay loams. The Pinot Noir is produced from grapes sourced exclusively from Estate owned vineyards, allowing complete control over stewardship of the land.
Winemaking:
All the grapes that go into Roederer Estate wines are treated with extra care, and are guided by the Domaine philosophy of minimum intervention throughout the winemaking process. Hand-sorting and gentle extraction of the juices is followed by open top fermentation tanks which achieve precise extraction of flavours and colour, while slow malolactic fermentation defines structure and enhances the clarity of site-specific aromatics for our Pinot Noir. The wine is then pressed with a hydraulic basket press. Thirty percent new oak is used for the 2013 vintage. In order to respect the fruit flavours and not dominate them, the winemaking team carefully tracks development and maturity, blending separate lots for an optimal flavour profile. This attentive barrel aging process, or élevage, results in wines that are rich and naturally complex. The Pinot Noir is aged for 16 months to fully develop aromas and refine structure.

Tasting Note:
A chameleon in the glass, the 2013 Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir oscillates among aromas of black cherries, turned earth and cloves with hints of wood smoke. The black cherry is echoed on the pallet. The firm tannic core is enveloped in a satiny robe of black and red cherries and red plum skin flavours. Earthy bark spice and exotic oak flavours intermingle with fresh fruits. Generous without heaviness, the wine is sophisticated and confident.
