Ronald Morrison a wine & whisky merchant in 1947 created Glayva whisky. Creating it at the port of Leith, in Scotland, he had wanted to create a drink to add warmth and comfort to his consumers from the strong harsh Scottish winters. He had easy access to trade through the port & also had exotic ingredients like tangerines, honey & spices which he then went on to blend with malt whisky.
The name Glayva comes from when the worker's of Morrison had reacted when they first tasted the drink they shouted 'Gle Mhath' this translates to 'Very Good'
